牛津路沿街的景色

曼彻斯特大学

大学走廊位于曼彻斯特南部。它覆盖了牛津路和威尔姆斯洛路沿线的区域，从A57(M)向南穿过拉什霍姆（Rusholme）到达法洛菲尔德（Fallowfield），以及A34和A5103之间的周边区域。曼彻斯特大学和曼彻斯特城市大学——这座城市的两所大型大学——都位于此处。

这里有三个不同的区域

• 最北边是大学校园所在地，也称为乔尔顿-昂达-梅德洛克（Chorlton-on-Medlock）。

从皮卡迪利花园或牛津路沿线出发的42、41、43、142、143路巴士都会经过大学、拉什霍姆和法洛菲尔德。50路巴士沿安森路行驶。147路巴士从皮卡迪利火车站（Piccadilly station）南出口出发，经过曼彻斯特大学（北校区和南校区）、曼彻斯特城市大学和曼彻斯特皇家医院，但仅限工作日白天运行。

乘汽车

从曼彻斯特市中心到拉什霍姆和法洛菲尔德有两条主要道路：威尔姆斯洛路和安森路（往市中心方向为牛津路和上布鲁克街）。在曼彻斯特皇家医院附近，牛津路介于布斯街东路（Booth Street East）和哈瑟奇路（Hathersage Road）之间的大部分时间都有巴士优先通行措施，通常由交通摄像头监控。建议使用上布鲁克街。

步行

法洛菲尔德距离著名的咖喱街拉什霍姆仅需步行几分钟。沿着威尔姆斯洛路走即可。

打车

从皮卡迪利火车站乘坐黑色出租车（Black Cab）费用约为6英镑；从牛津路火车站（Oxford Road Station）出发约为5英镑；从机场出发约为17英镑（但43A和45A路巴士往返于机场和曼彻斯特市中心，途经拉什霍姆，票价约为2.50-3英镑）。

乘火车

附近的主要车站是1 曼彻斯特牛津路火车站. It can be reached walking due south from it for 30 minutes will find you at the top of Rusholme, 45 minutes in Fallowfield.

• 1 咖喱一条街, Wilmslow Road. A one mile long, neon light illuminated, stretch of Wilmslow Road with wall to wall curry houses, kebab shops, sari shops, and jewellery stores. The best curry in Manchester can be had here, but the community is an attraction in itself. Supposedly, this is the highest concentration of curry restaurants in the country. Most curry houses have early bird discounts of around 10-20% before 6PM and most do student discounts of around 10%. Be warned, waiters will come out of their restaurants to try and lure you in, but it's a good opportunity to try and bargain a decent-sized discount! Avoid during Eid celebrations, as the whole place is gridlocked.

Fallowfield is heavy with drunken students at night, so if you want a quiet drink, this is not the place to go. However, if you don't mind students, there are some decent prices to be had.

• Baa Bar, 258 Wilmslow Rd, M14 6JR, ☏ +44 161 257-0770. One of a handful in Manchester, a three story bar that serves food during the day and turns up the music in the evening. 
• 256 Wilmslow Road (formerly Queen of Hearts), 256 Wilmslow Road, Fallowfield, M14 6LB. Has gone upmarket (updated Oct 2022)
• Sofa, 236 Wilmslow Road, M14 6LE, ☏ +44 161 248-4820. Nice bar, with (surprisingly!) sofas and wooden floors. DJs on the weekends, also sells tickets to some of the bigger club nights in town. £2.30 a pint. 
• XS Malarkey - comedy night at Bar XS.

Rusholme tends to be slightly less heavy at night and there are less students (and more curry restaurants near)

6 福特·马多克斯·布朗, Unit 1 Wilmslow Park, Wilmslow Road (close to The Whitworth art gallery.). One of very few pubs left in Rusholme. A Wetherspoon pub so cheap food & drink is available. (updated Jun 2025)

There are a number of internet cafes on Wilmslow Road, including Link Up between Banff Road and Gt. Western Street. There are a handful of others in a row of converted terrace houses between Gt. Western Street and Dagenham Road. There is also a British Telecom Broadband Telephone box further south between Thurloe Street and Grandale Street.

Telegeneration provides wireless access at a number of near-by pubs and Bed and Breakfasts on and around Oxford Road/Wilmslow Road, the closest being at Luther King House.
