长治市地处山西省东南部，位于太行山晋晋地块，地势南、北、东三面环山，中部为广阔的平原。年平均气温 10.3℃，比往年同期偏高 0.6℃。各县降水量在 511.2毫米至 795.9毫米之间，平均日照时数 2185.1小时，平均无霜期 220天。

There are two high-speed railway stations in Changzhi,

• 1 长治东站 (长治东站). 长治东站（长治东高铁站）位于长治市潞州区老城镇朝阳村东，是继长治站（长治普速站）之后，在2020年12月12日开通运营的又一座高铁站。长治东站总建筑面积约4万平方米，其中站房总建筑面积2万平方米。2016年6月16日开工建设，2020年12月12日正式开通运营。 作为枢纽站，该站目前是连接太原、郑州、北京、上海等地的关键节点。  
• 2 长治南站 (长治南站).  
• 3 长治王村机场 (长治王村机场), 长治机场路. 长治王村机场（IATA: CIH; ICAO: ZBCZ），位于山西省长治市潞州区与城区交界处，距长治市中心5.5公里，是一座4C级军民合用国内区域性机场。

太行山大峡谷

• 1 太行山大峡谷 (太行山大峡谷; Tàihángshān Dàxiágǔ, Grand Gorge of Taihang), 壶关县大峡谷镇 (take the special tourist bus that departs from the Huguan County Seat North Bus Station; alight when you get to the visitor center), toll-free: +86 400 0710999. Not to be confused with the similarly named Taihang Grand Canyon (太行大峡谷) in 林州, Henan Province. As of April 2024, the park is closed due to road works. It will reopen again on July 1st.  
• 2 上党门 (上党门; Shàngdǎngmén), 潞州区府上街15号 (bus nos. 5, 5A and 14). 08:00-18:00. This old gate is a major historical landmark in Changzhi and is often seen as a symbol of the city. It was originally built during the Sui Dynasty as part of a local government office but destroyed by the Jurchens in the 12th century. The current structures date from the Ming Dynasty. Free.  
• 3 法兴寺 (法兴寺; Fǎxīngsì). Faxing Temple, formerly located in Cilin Mountain Col, Eldest Son County, was built in the first year of the Sixteen States Period (AD 401). It is now located on Cuiyun Mountain, Cuizhuang Town, southeast of Eldest Son County, Shanxi Province, covering an area of 40,000 square meters.
  Faxing Temple is located in the north facing south, the existing layout of the Tang Dynasty characteristics, classics, stupa in front of the temple, the central axis in turn, Bulieshan gate, pagoda, round sense hall and Bodhisattva hall, two wings for the Guan Gong Hall, Jia LAN Hall and stele corridor. There are 17 inscriptions from Tang Dynasty to Qing Dynasty, which record the history and establishment of the temple.  
• Xiantang Mountain (仙堂山; Xiāntángshān). 
• Lingkong Mountain (灵空山; Língkōngshān). 
• 4 黄崖洞文化旅游区 (黄崖洞; Huángyádòng Wénhuà Lǚyóu Qū), 黎城县黄崖洞镇上赤峪村村168号 (take either a train or bus no. 818 to Licheng County, then catch bus no. 808 from Licheng Bus Station and get off at the final stop), ☏ +86 355 5512000. 08:00-18:00, no entry after 17:00. More than just a geological park, this is also an important historical site. During the Second World War, the Communist-led Eighth Route Army set up a military base here, which included the army’s first armaments factory. In November 1941, Eighth Route Army forces at the base successfully fought off an attack by the Japanese army despite being outnumbered 6 to 1. The former military base is now one of the key attractions in the park. Standard adult tickets are ¥120; tickets for children between 7 and 18 years old and adults between 60 and 64 years old are ¥60; children aged 6 or under and adults aged 65 or over are admitted for free.
