Pegnitz is a town of some 14,000 people (2023) in Upper Franconia. The entire preserved inner city centre is a listed building, including the medieval town hall from 1347.

Pegnitz shares its name with the river which originates here and flows through Nuremberg before joining with the Rednitz in Fürth to form the Regnitz, which ultimately flows into the Main river.

• 1 Pegnitz Station. This station sits along the non-electrified line linking Nuremberg and Cheb with direct trains running hourly to places like Nuremberg or Bayreuth. Pegnitz is in the VGN and VGN tickets are valid on regional trains

• 1 Burgruine Hollenberg. A ruined castle of which not much remains  
• 2 Schloss Trockau. The castle is located on the western edge of the town of Trockau. The building, which dates back to the 18th century, has a floor plan in the form of an irregular square.  
• 3 Medieval Town Hall (Rathaus), Hauptstraße 37. from 1347 (updated Dec 2024)
